Exhibition: Transience, by Sue Adams
A solo exhibition of new sculpture & works on paper by Sue Adams. In this new body of work, Adams is inspired by the phases of life, as it goes through its cycles of growth, harvest, death and renewal. “The only constant is change and letting go before moving on”, she notes. “There is a transience or fleeting quality to each stage as well as an underlying beauty which carries with it the sadness of decline.” The four works on paper echo the theme of cycles: the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic, the Second World War, and the present Covid-19 pandemic are all fodder for the artist’s creative impulses.

Exhibition: A Sheltered Place, by Wendy Robertson
This is an immersive installation by artist Wendy Robertson that pays tribute to the rugged landscape near Agawa Bay, Lake Superior. Working primarily with oils and palette knives, her paintings of rock surfaces, shorelines, and landscapes convey immediacy and grandeur. Her gaze is often drawn to micro-environments with attention to negative spaces and the intricate interplay of colour and texture, turning rocks or pieces of tree bark into an immersive experience for her viewers.

Matt & Ben
Summer Theatre Smiths Falls
Aug 11-29, Wed-Sun. A play by Mindy Kaling & Brenda Withers, Matt and Ben is a wildly fictional account of how two novice actors, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, were capable of writing Good Will Hunting. Meant to be played by two women, the characters battle their way through jealousy, anger, betrayal, and visits from Gwyneth Paltrow and JD Salinger to reach an important conclusion.
