A Present to Your Ears Folkus presents Coco Love Alcorn - theHumm February 2017

— James Keelaghan, Summerfolk Artist Director, and renowned Canadian singer/songwriter
Serendipity occasionally plays a role in the Folkus Concert series. Coco Love Alcorn came to us at the recommendation of local singer-songwriter and choral leader Jennifer Noxon, who was singing one of Coco’s songs with her choir. Trusting Jen’s ears, we immediately checked out Coco’s music and saw a good fit for our hall and audience. Great voice? Check. Tight backing band? Check. Good sense of fun? Double check.
Coco Love Alcorn is a warm, big-voiced singer, at ease with both choral groups and vocal loops. She sings protest songs, love songs, songs about bicycles. Her new album, Wonderland, is upbeat and energetic, but also moving.
Opening for Coco Love Alcorn will be Chris MacLean, a charming Wakefield singer-songwriter. Chris is well known through the Ottawa and Gatineau valleys for her songwriting and guitar playing. And what do you know? Her song was also part of the Jennifer’s choir repertoire last year.
Single tickets for the February 25 show are available online at folkusalmonte.com and at Mill Street Books in Almonte.
As always, doors open at 7:30pm and seating is first-come, first-served. Showtime is at 8pm. Folkus offers a cash-only bar with local beer, Ontario wine, and non-alcoholic beverages. Note: Due to strong season’s pass sales, only about 50 individual tickets will be available for each show this season. Don’t miss your chance!
