Quick reads for the holidays

This month we share selected reading from Karen DeLuca, Chief Librarian / CEO at the Arnprior Public Library. Karen writes: "With the time crunch of the holidays, it's a perfect time to grab some quick reads!"

  • Fishbowl by Bradley Somer is a whimsical treat. Catch glimpses of lives that at are sometimes heartbreaking and other times laugh out loud funny — all from the perspective of a goldfish (yes, goldfish) plummeting from its apartment balcony bowl to the sidewalk below.
  • The 2015 edition of the Journey Prize has just been published — it features stories from the best of Canada's new writers.
  • To get you in the holiday mood there's Favourite Christmas Stories from Fireside Al. That's from Canadian icon Alan Maitland.
  • The delightful story of finding that perfect New England tree is tucked inside Julie Salamon's book The Christmas Tree.
  • Children's picture books are a great source of read-alouds for all ages. My favourite is The Christmas Orange by Don Gillmor.
